What is the Ancient Order of Hibernians In America?
The Ancient Order of Hibernians is a Catholic, Irish American Fraternal Organization founded in New York City 4 May,1836. The Order can trace its roots back to a parent organization, of the same name, which has existed in Ireland for over 300 years. Division 3 sponsors or co-sponsors a number of events each year with proceeds going to a number of worthwhile causes in the Ancient Order of Hibernians or local charities related to the Five Towns.
The Division also marches in four St. Patrick’s Day Parades a year with New York, Garden City, Rockville Centre, and Glen Cove on the agenda for 2012. We also usually march in a Memorial Day parade and in the Long beach Parade in October (more…)

The Ancient Order of Hibernians was saddened last year with the loss of National Life Member John Bownes after a freak accidentin July. He was 83.
“He was a dedicated member of the order,” said fellow National Life Member Michael O’Rourke. “He was very active with the Feis, and helped build the stages. He was a worker.” (more…)
